The Queen contest will be held following the pleasure warm-up. Hopefully third time’s a charm. Deadline for entering the Iowa State Fair Cowgirl Queen Contest has passed but a Queen is still needed to represent CPSC at the ISSCA show later this month. See June 22 post for entry form. Information on ISSCA’s Queen contest can be found at http://www.cowboycalendar.com/saddle_club_details.asp?idSaddleClub=146

Volunteers are needed for Aug. 9 show! Office, ribbons, gate, ring, etc. We have one very lonely person signed up right now. Email JodieRAranch@aol.com to sign up. I will be away from the computer Aug. 7-9 so you’ll need to contact Sharon Scharf after Thursday of this week. Working 1/3 of a show is required for high point eligibility. PLEASE sign up today… believe it or not there are only 4 CPSC shows remaining.

Qwik-Sands concession stand will be set up to provide food and drink. See July 26 show post for their yummy menu and prices.

We still have all of those nice trophies that are just itching to be placed in a class winner’s hand at the Aug. show.

A note about canceled shows:
It is YOUR responsibility to check for a cancellation! Two numbers are on the showbill as well as this blog address. Check them the night before the show, check them when you get up in the morning and check again before you load your horses and pull out the drive. There is no way possible to call everyone… that is what the phone numbers and blog are for. It may be dry as a bone at your place and a swamp in Central City. Yes- several people go check the arena who volunteer their time and gas to do so before the decision to cancel is made. Yes- the final decision to cancel is made by the Club President with input from officers and show committee members. If you would like to be part of that decision we recommend you volunteer for one of those positions. No- cancellations can NOT be posted on the club web site home page! Sorry, it just takes too long to do that. Look for the club logo where it says “Click here for latest news, meetings, cancellations”.

Don’t forget to mark your calendar for the make up show on September 6.

Some info on the ISSCA show Aug.22 & 23:

A very good turn out from CPSC members this year. Thank you to Sharon S. for your hard work on that and Jess E. for keying in all of the entries! Many, many hours spent there folks …you have no idea!!!

Those entered may arrive at IEC at noon Friday, Aug. 21. Stalls will be assigned with your name posted. If you have a special stalling request, need or would like to be stalled next to someone please contact Jodie asap. Horses that do not have a paid stall are NOT allowed in the stalling barn OR allowed to use the wash racks, period! ISSCA rules will be available in the show office and it is the exhibitor’s responsibility to read and follow them.

CPSC members potluck will be held at the club hospitality stall Friday evening (time TBA). Meat and table service will be provided. Bring whatever you’d like to share. Beach theme …so dig out that bikini and flip-flops ; )

ISSCA is having a potluck Saturday night. CPSC members have been asked to bring cold items, salads, etc. At this point that is all the information I have. (Will post more info when available)

CPSC is required to provide volunteers at various times throughout the weekend. Please call Sharon or email Jodieraranch@aol.com if you have time to help.
